We will be starting Yoga lessons each Thursday from 3.45 to 4.45pm from after half term. We positively encourage adults to participate in the sessions with their children. Sessions will be charged at £1.00 per child and £2.00 per adult. Please speak with Mark if you would like to book places.
Drop into Sutton House, 2-4 Homerton High Street, Hackney, E9 on the last Sunday of every month and most Thursdays during school holidays for Family Fun for all ages. Adults need to stay with children at all times.
Cluster A Extended Schools services will be operating an Easter holiday programme for Year 5 and 6 pupils from Monday 6 – Wed 8 April (8.45 – 1.00) at Our Lady’s Convent High School (6-16 Amhurst Park, N16) with the opportunity for children to learn about design and technology through designing and building a clockwork robot.
Application forms have been sent home and need to be returned as soon as possible to Mark or Ian.
The Cake Sale a fortnight ago for the Blue Peter Nutrition Mission appeal raised and impressive £137.44. Thank you to everyone who contributed home baked items to sell.
This year’s Easter Playscheme’s will be held at St. John the Baptist School, Crondall Street, N1 6JG Northwold School, Northwold Road, E5 8RN.
They will take place between 9am – 6pm Monday 6th April – Thursday 10th April; Tuesday 14th April – Friday 17th April St. John the Baptist School, Crondall Street, N1 6JG
Booking sessions will take place at The Learning Trust on Wednesday 11, Thursday 12, and Friday 13 February between 12.30pm – 2.30pm and 5pm – 7pm at the Learning Trust.
Playscheme fees must be paid in full at these booking sessions. Payment can only be made by cash or cheque with a guarantee card. Parents must bring proof of address and income support with them to the booking sessions. Unfortunately refunds on places booked cannot be given, even if the child is unable to attend.

The Stoke Newington Extended Schools Cluster, which Grasmere Primary School is part of will be organising a half term project called “Mummies and Mayhem” on Monday 18 to Thursday 21st February at William Patten Primary. Sessions are free and available to a limited number of Year 4 and 5 pupils from local schools. The sessions will include a trip to the 02 Centre in Greenwich to see the Tutankhamen exhibition.
Places on the scheme are free but application must be returned to the school no later than 7th February. Details of the programme and registration form have been sent home with children.
At Grasmere we believe strongly in developing the whole child by offering a wide range of extra curricular opportunities during lesson time which extend the minimum requirements of the National Curriculum. Children select from a range of activities getting 6 of the 8 choices made, changing clubs each half term. Clubs are a great way of both children and staff mixing with a wider range of children of different ages and developing new skills, interests and friendships. Here is a list of clubs available this term:
The Learning Trust will be running 2 Play Schemes from Monday 2nd to Friday 13th April, 9.00am to 6.00pm.
Prices are £9.00 per day (£8.00 for additional children) and £5.00 concessionary fees (£4.50 for additional children). Play Schemes will be operating at:

This week the school was awarded the Hackney Healthy Schools award for “Delivering Food Education and Cooking in the KS1 and KS2 Curriculum”. Well done to Nadine for her hard work developing this in school.
Grasmere Kidz Club will be running a Summer Scheme from 26th July to 25th August from 8.30 – 6.00pm for children aged 5 to 12.
A wide range of sporting, art, ICT, visits and social activities will be provided.

Details of the 9 day Play-Scheme operating during the Easter holidays will be sent home in the next couple of days. The Play Scheme will be running from Monday 3rd to Thursday 13th April and is open to children from the local area aged 5 to 12.

Cycle Training UK will be working with Years 3 and 4 from the week beginning 16 January for 5 weeks.
Letters will be sent out in the first week of January. The cycle trainers will decide which children are trained, and places will unfortunately be limited to 12.

I am pleased to announce that we are able to offer classes in the Turkish language. Classes will be open to all children and adults whether they are Turkish speakers or non-Turkish speakers.
We are planning to run sessions in the New Year every Friday between 3.30 and 4.30.
Sessions will include opportunities to read and write in Turkish, as well as have the chance to become familiar with Turkish fiction and non-fiction literature and aspects of Turkish culture and traditions.
Places will be strictly limited, so please return the form on the reverse of this newsletter if you wish to attend.
