    Governors Annual Report to Parents & Milestone Meeting

    Friday, October 16th, 2009

    On Monday children will bring home a copy of the Governors Annual Report to Parents. The report contains a summary of key successes and events within the last 12 months and an overview of curriculum provision. A full version of the report will be available from the office on request or can be found on the school website.

    Governors will be holding their Milestone meeting on Monday 9 November at 6.30pm in the school hall. The meeting will focus upon the strategic plans for the school over the next 3 years and how parents can support the Governing Body in achieving their aims and provide the opportunity for parents ideas and views to be incorporated into the School Improvement Plan.


    International Evening

    Friday, October 16th, 2009

    Please come along and enjoy our International Evening on Wednesday 21 October from 6.30 – 8.00pm and enjoy a fantastic evening of food and entertainment from around the world.

    The event is FREE.

    All we ask is that you bring along an “international” dish of your choice to add to the buffet.

    Please avoid food with nuts or pork and label beef, chicken, seafood or fish.

    The event will kick off with the children performing a range of songs from around the world and welcomes in community languages followed by a buffet of international food.

    Grasmere Governors and Parents Milestone Meeting 10 November

    We will be holding our Milestone Meeting on Monday 10 November at 9.15 – 10.30 in the school hall providing opportunities for parents to discuss with Governors ways of improving the school as well as letting us know what you feel is working well. There will be opportunity to hear about new initiatives happening in the school and learn about how the school is performing in comparison with local schools and nationally.

    Refreshments will be available and a crèche for young children will be provided in the Nursery.

    There will be the opportunity for parents and carers who are unable to attend to send in ideas and comments to be included at the meeting. Copies of the Governors Annual Report to Parents booklet will be distributed in the week before the meeting.

    New Parent Governor

    I am pleased to announce that our new Parent Governor is Diane Tuckey. Diane has 3 children in school Mia, Alex and Charlie. Diane has also been an active member of FROGS and the SEN and Diverse Heritage parents’ groups.

    Parent Governor Elections

    This autumn elections will take place for 2 Parent Governor Positions. Schools Governors play a vital role in being a critical friend overseeing the strategic development of the school, including personnel, budget, curriculum and premises.

    Parent Governor Elections

    We have 4 candidates standing in the Parent Governor Elections and here is the husting sheet.

  • The election is for 2 Parent Governor positions. Parents are entitled to 2 votes. Voting can be cast in the school office until 5.00pm on Friday 13th October and placed in the sealed box.

    Changes to Grasmere Governing Body

    At the end of this term Henry Stewart will be standing down as Chair of Governors. Henry will be continuing to work and support the school as a Parent Governor.

    We would like to thank Henry for all his hard work, support and enthusiasm for the children of Grasmere and wish him all the best in his new role as Chair of Governors at Stoke Newington school.

    Our new chair of Governors will be Greta Karpin and Vice Chair Pauline Kinch.

    Parent Governor Elections

    We have 3 candidates standing for election.

    Voting can be done in the school office daily between 8.00 – 9.00am and 3.30 - 5.30pm until Friday 2nd December at 5.00pm.
