    Measles and immunisation

    Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Today we have had our first reported case of Measles within school.

The Hackney and City Health Authority have advised the school to remind parents whose children have not been immunised that it is essential for children to be immunised within 72 hours of reported cases where your child may have been in contact with an infected individual.

Symptoms of measles are rashes and fever.

Thank you for your support in this matter,

    Watch Out, Measles About!

    Monday, November 26th, 2007

Since June 2007 there have been over 300 reported cases of measles to GPs in Hackney, more cases than recorded than in the rest of the country.

In response to the recent measles out break the City and Hackney Primary Care Trust has arranged for the mobile immunisation unit to visit Grasmere on the morning of Monday 3rd December. The van will be in the playground from 8.45am with Nurses present to see children whose immunisations are not up to date. Please complete the form which has been sent home and return to school.

Please note: All immunisations will only be carried out with parental permission and with parents present.

    Junior Fruit

    Friday, September 15th, 2006

We are very lucky that free fruit is provided by the Health Authority for all children up to Year 2. Previously we were often able to offer this to Junior children. Unfortunately, due to the popularity of the scheme with the Infants there is now insufficient fruit to offer to the Juniors on a regular basis…

We would positively encourage children in the Juniors to bring fruit or vegetables to eat at morning break.

    Healthy Schools Accreditation

    Friday, November 12th, 2004

[Macro error: Can’t call the script because the name “pictureRef” hasn’t been defined.]
At last Monday’s assembly, Liz Kelly the Healthy School’s coordinator for The Learning Trust presented Grasmere Primary School with a certificate in recognition of the school’s achievement. It has been awarded to the school for developing a whole school approach to health education and health improvement and for achieving the DFES and Healthy Schools Standard (level 3)

  • “We have gained this status before and we were one of the first to gain recognition 5 years ago” Ian
  • “a glowing testimony to the progress that staff and pupils are making at our school” Mark
