Consultation of Local Road Safety Scheme

    Monday, October 12th, 2009

Hackney Council are currently consulting local residents on changes regarding make Albion Road and neighbouring streets into 20 mph traffic zones and installing new lower impact speed humps. If a pedestrian is hit at 40mph there is a 90% chance that they will be killed, a 20% chance at 30mph and only a 3% chance of being killed is vehicles travel at 20mph.

The school would be grateful if you could offer your support to this project to improve the safety of Grasmere children and the wider community.

We are delighted to announce that this week our new Road Crossing Officer Hezzy Appleton started work at the crossing by Clissold Road/Albion Road supporting pupils at Betty Laywood and Grasmere.

parking on yellow lines, safety and the law

    Friday, January 19th, 2007

Please note that it is illegal to park on the yellow lines outside school, it is a prosecutable offence to park on them. Illegal parking especially during the morning causes an obstruction to traffic on Albion Road. It puts the safety of parents and their children as well as staff, visitors and other road users at risk.

One morning recently a collision with a parent’s car and bus was only narrowly avoided. The hazard was created by illegal parking by 3 Grasmere parents. The school has alerted the Hackney traffic warden service about the individuals and they will be making random inspections in January 2007.

Pay and display meters are available by the Clissold Crescent junction with Albion Road.
