    Head lice and cleanliness

    Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

    image005.jpg

We are currently dealing with a relentless reoccurrence of Head Lice amongst pupils which both parents and children are finding frustrating. In order to crack the problem it is essential that we have the full support of all families. If you find your child has head lice it is essential that you treat all the family.

The only way to confirm a head louse infection is to find a live moving louse on the head, and the best way to do that is to use a good detection method. ‘Detection Combing’ is thought to be one of the best detection methods, it is described in detail here and will take about 20 minutes.

Sports News for the upcoming term

    Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

    Swimming

Years 4 and 6 will have swimming lessons each Thursday until February. A voluntary contribution of £35.00 towards the cost of lessons is requested.

    Additional Sports Autumn 2007

Children will be taking part in the following additional sports this half term:

  • Cricket: Year s 1 to 4
  • Tennis: Year 2 & 4
  • selfish and lazy drivers put everyone at risk

    Monday, April 3rd, 2006

Unfortunately, a number of the heavier parents are choosing to park on the yellow lines outside of school at the start and end of the day. This is illegal and putting the safety of children and the wider community at risk, there have already been collisions. We would be grateful if these drivers could act more responsibly. Parking meters are available at the junction of Albion Road and Clissold Crescent.

Hackney Highways Department will be making spot-checks over the next few weeks. Grasmere has been asked to report offenders immediately to the Highways Department, which could lead to prosecution.

This posting has been significantly edited by the webmaster and does not necessarily reflect the school’s attitude. If any driver would like to discuss it with me - feel free. Alternatively you might want to CLICK HERE

213: You MUST NOT wait or park where there are restrictions shown by

  • • yellow lines along the edge of the carriageway (see Along the edge of the carriageway section)
  • • school entrance markings on the carriageway

Drumming crew make a big noise on Monday

    Friday, April 29th, 2005

On Monday in the Hall the whole school was treated to a show by the drumming groups first year two then the after-school drumming club. It was a really great show with parents who have been coming to the class involved as well. Nicky used an extended set, that made some of the drummers arms ache, to involve the whole school in clapping and singing. A special “well done” to Nicky for creating such an accomplished crew.

    Calling All Artists

    Thursday, December 2nd, 2004

Attention all artists or parent/carers interested in the possibility of running art workshops in school time to classes between Years 1 and 6. Sessions could last anything from 1 to 3 hours and may include activities as broad ranging as tie dye and marbling, building 3D objects (from clay or found objects), painting and collage.

‘One off’ workshops would be run on a voluntary basis, with an understanding that anything more considerable would be considered for payment.

Any equipment/materials for such sessions will of course be provided or paid for by the school.

    Attendance And Punctuality

    Thursday, October 9th, 2003

At Grasmere Primary School we are constantly trying to improve standards and learning opportunities for children. One of the ways as parents and carers you can greatly assist us to do this is by ensuring that your child attends school regularly and on time.

A small minority of children are still coming late to school each day. It is important for children to be punctual to school to ensure both themselves and other children in classes have a calm start to the day and are able to begin all lessons without disruption.

The following figures show attendance for September:

    Nursery 98.65%
    Reception 95.83%
    Year 1 92.50%
    Year 2 97.40%
    Year 3 94.90%
    Year 4 95.55%
    Year 5 97.22%
    Year 6 96.13%

Well done to Nursery. Lets keep up the good work and work towards that important 100% attendance.
